A shaft hoist is designed for vertical movement of various loads within a shaft. It can be installed in an existing shaft or custom-made according to the design of the future shaft.

A shaft hoist is similar to a freight elevator (custom cabin, elevator guides, and various options for hoist mechanism placement).

Unlike a freight elevator, the control panel for a mine hoist is not located inside the cabin, but rather outside the hoist, as the hoist is designed exclusively for transporting freight. This allows for the unattended movement of freight between floors.

The hoist's guides are prefabricated and secured to the walls of the supporting shaft. The freight cabin is an enclosed structure equipped with doors. A mine hoist can have either an overhead or underhead hoist mechanism.

With an overhead installation, the lifting mechanism is secured to the shaft walls at the top, if the load-bearing capacity of the walls allows, or to the shaft ceiling. If necessary, a metal structure can be fabricated and installed to distribute the load across all shaft walls. With a bottom installation, the mechanism is mounted in a pit or outside the shaft.

The overall dimensions of the cargo platforms, the location of the lifting mechanisms (top or bottom), and the number of intermediate stops are agreed upon when placing the order.

The shaft hoist is equipped with safety devices, which consist of two safety cables, expansion springs, and wedge blocks. If the main cable weakens or breaks, the springs act on the blocks, which in turn wedge the safety cables. As a result, the cabin does not fall, but hangs from two emergency cables.

Each mine hoist is also equipped with a system of emergency limit switches that shut off power to the hoist in emergency situations:

  • if the cable becomes loose or breaks
  • when passing the upper stop while the cabin is moving up
  • when passing the lower stop while the cabin is moving down

At the customer's request, the mine hoist can be equipped with additional features:

  • Mine doors of various designs, including sectional overhead doors with electric (prevents cabin movement when the doors are open) and mechanical (prevents the door from opening when the cabin is not on the floor) interlocks
  • Folding sides on the cargo cabin
  • Elevator floor-by-floor control system (a short press of a button is enough to send the cargo cabin to the desired floor)
  • LED indicator of cabin location
  • Intercom system
  • Overload limiter
